the contemplative elf is a weekly newsletter with the odd piece of fiction here and there.
I often find myself overwhelmed by questions, uncertainty, and confusion - much like, everyone else. Writing about it and all the random little pieces of information I gather over a week helps me (sort of) make a little sense of it all.
I have been journaling for over a decade now and while it’s helpful in its own way, it is more of an emotional escape, writing about what I’m feeling doesn’t make me think much about anything I’ve learned or realised or discovered. It’s simply me venting and complaining.
Then I began blogging - something that has turned into a creative outlet and a safe community of fantastic artists and kind souls. Poetry, short prose and creative non-fiction have opened up a new world - courageous, bold, novel and beautiful in the way only art can be.
My whole life has been a series of experiments - writing was an experiment, reading was and today - so is everything else. I think, with this newsletter, I don’t hope to achieve a specific goal. I simply want to chronicle my weekly awareness so I can look back in a couple of years and maybe find some new thoughts that lend sense to the pandemonium around. And maybe writing freely without too much prep work might be a whole new experience by itself.
the contemplative elf is the latest in this series of experiments. With no theme and no order - it’s going to be a collection of all the little moments that linger during/after a week.
I also ramble on in these places.
