Stacks is a platform that facilitates the use of smart contracts and decentralized applications on top of the Bitcoin network. Stackers lock their STX to receive BTC from Miners with the amount of BTC received in proportion with the amount of STX locked.

The Proof of Transfer mechanism removes the need for a system of burning cryptocurrencies. Instead, it requires that mined cryptocurrencies be transferred to other participants within the ecosystem.
