S.H.I.N.E
Start Helping Impacted Neighborhoods Everywhere
Designed to support you in successfully completing your community service hours with ease and guidance.
The S.H.I.N.E Program works with individuals required to complete community service as part of their sentence and as an alternative to jail time. At TEEM, the goal is to make this process as easy and seamless as possible for clients. It collaborates closely with neighborhood associations, local organizations, and businesses to promote a cleaner and safer county. SHINE also partners with local law enforcement to address graffiti on public and private properties.
Participants collaborate with the Intake Coordinator to find the most suitable placement, considering their location, availability, and preferences. The program ensures participants can fulfill their obligations in a supportive and accommodating environment by prioritizing convenience and aligning opportunities with client interests.
The Community Service Program also works closely with the courts, case managers, and probation officers to advocate for participants, ensuring they complete their service hours within a timely yet realistic timeframe that respects their work-life balance. Additionally, the program continuously seeks to build partnerships with new agencies, expanding opportunities for clients and fostering a greater positive impact on the community.
How We Got Started
The SHINE Foundation was started in 2011 by District 2 Oklahoma County Commissioner Brian Maughan. While the foundation includes several programs that partner with neighborhood associations, community groups, and businesses, the county handed oversight to the community service program to TEEM in July of 2024.
