Sarcoma research begins with community support, and that's where Courage Ride makes a difference.

For more than 20 years, our annual event has raised vital funds through donations and rider participation. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, every dollar goes directly to the University of Iowa’s sarcoma research program at the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, Courage Ride has made an impact, helping fund critical research grants and accelerating progress in the search for better treatments and outcomes.

Event Support

Help make ride day a success. These giving opportunities directly support the logistics, energy, and experience of Courage Ride for riders and attendees alike.

  • Help support Courage Ride from the ground up by donating essential items like bottled water, snacks, or supplies for use at Big Grove or the various stops along the routes. These tangible contributions keep the event running smoothly and ensure riders, volunteers, and guests have a great experience.

  • Our silent auction is a key part of Courage Ride’s fundraising success. Donating an item—such as gift baskets, local experiences, artwork, or services—is a great way to contribute. All proceeds go directly to sarcoma research, and your donation showcases your generosity to our community of riders and supporters. If you have an item or items you’d like to donate to the silent auction, please contact us.

  • Businesses and organizations can support sarcoma research while gaining visibility through Courage Ride. Sponsorships are available at a variety of levels and help underwrite the cost of the event so that more funds go directly to research. Learn more and download our sponsorship packet.

Flexible Donation Options

Give in a way that works for you. From online donations to gifts of stock or IRA assets, these options offer flexibility and potential tax benefits. Learn how one donor honored her husband's legacy through a gift from her IRA in A Life of Impact, A Gift of Hope.

  • If you’re 70½ or older, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA directly to Courage Ride. This tax-efficient option can satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and reduce your taxable income. Just ask your financial advisor to make the check payable to Courage Ride.

  • Donating appreciated stocks or mutual funds held for more than a year may offer tax advantages and allows you to make a greater impact without using cash. Please consult with your financial advisor for more information.

  • Many employers match charitable contributions. Check with your company to see if your gift to Courage Ride can be doubled.

  • Support via cash or check is still one of the simplest and most effective ways to give. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. If you’d like to mail a check, it can be sent to:
