Courage Ride Reaches $1 Million Milestone in Support of Sarcoma Research
This year’s $120,000 donation did more than add to an already impressive total—it officially pushed Courage Ride’s cumulative giving since the first ride in 2005 to over $1 million.
Meet our 2025 Courage Ride Patient Honoree
My name is Lindsey Woods, and I’m a 39-year-old wife to Ben and mom of three awesome daughters – Charli (15), Valerie (12), and Lucy (10). In my work life, I joined the wonderful world of real estate almost two years ago as the Director of Operations for Top Tier Home Team with Keller Williams Legacy Group in Cedar Rapids, IA. I've been so blessed by and grateful for their continued support over this last year as I navigate my current health journey.
Unfortunately, my life took a sudden change of course in November 2023 when I received a very unexpected diagnosis of an osteosarcoma tumor in my right femur – a rare type of bone cancer that doesn’t typically affect adults my age. I had been experiencing some mild pain and weakness in my right knee on and off for a few months, and finally decided to go to the doctor to have it checked out the week before Thanksgiving.
Sarcoma impacts patients and their families around the world.
Sarcoma Research at the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center is a global leader in developing sarcoma treatment therapies to improve the lives of sarcoma patients. As a result, many patients beyond Iowa seek treatment at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Courage Ride is excited to offer both an in-person ride experience and a virtual ride opportunity to the many people who cannot come to Iowa City but want to make a contribution to fighting this rare form of cancer.
The Courage Ride Board, our Sponsors, Partners, and the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center thank you for your ongoing support in the fight again Sarcoma Cancer!
