Welcome to the
Urban Greenspace Research Collaborative
We are an interdisciplinary team of researchers exploring the interface between social and ecological processes in urban systems.

About the Collaborative
The Urban Greenspace Research Collaborative (UGRC) is a partnership between researchers at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). As part of this collaboration, researchers are pursuing mutually interesting research related to the environmental and social impacts of greenspaces in urban settings. Our goals are to broaden our academic understanding of the socio-ecological role of greenways and other greenspaces in urban environments, provide creative interdisciplinary research experiences that train future generations of undergraduate and graduate students broadly interested in scientific and policy careers, and connect with policymakers and residents in their local communities to help cities develop and sustain their greenspaces in an ecologically resilient and socially equitable manner.
