Dear Silverhawk Families,

Welcome back to a new year at Windy Ridge K-8, the proud home of our Silverhawk scholars! We hope this year is memorable for all of our students and families.   Whether you are joining us for the first time, or a member of our Windy Ridge community, know that our goal is to build a positive and meaningful learning environment for your child to support their success during their time here at “The Ridge.”  Our school offers rich experiences that foster academic achievement built through meaningful relationships.

Windy Ridge K-8 has been recognized as a School of Excellence for over three decades.  Being a School of Excellence means that we have been recognized as one of the top performing schools in the state of Florida.  Our school knows that excellence happens with purpose focused on commitment and a dedication to all students learning at high levels.  Our staffulty prides ourselves in working as a strong Professional Learning Community which is committed to all students learning at high levels.

Students at Windy Ridge K-8 receive a comprehensive educational experience centered around four pillars of excellence; STEM, Arts, Language and Leadership.  We know your student will have a comprehensive educational experience at Windy Ridge as they embrace these pillars and become the leaders of tomorrow.  In addition to these pillars of excellence, our students have opportunities to participate in extracurricular student organizations and sports including; soccer, volleyball, basketball, and track.

At Windy Ridge you will find that students are most supported by meaningful relationships fostered with our entire staffulty.  From our instructors, to our classified teams, our students are surrounded by adults to work collaboratively to provide the best learning environment for their success.

Our students and staffulty are also supported by the strong relationships created with our community.  Our parents have many avenues of which to connect with our school.  Many families serve on our School Advisory Council, as a member of our Parent Teacher Organization, and as volunteers throughout the year.  We encourage all our families to get involved in our school this year through co-curricular, extracurricular, sports, clubs, or parent organizations.

If you have any questions about your child throughout the year, know that we are here to help in partnership.  Please reach out to your classroom teacher or any of the student support staff including administration so we can work with you to support your family. Should you need anything please email WindyRidge_k8@ocps.net or call us at 407-296-5100.

I look forward to welcoming back our Silverhawk families and leading our school to another year of continued Excellence Purpose!

Sincerely,

Dr. Karena Chunoo

Proud Principal of Windy Ridge K-8
