From Capstone to Career

The Kind of MBA That Shows Up at Work

Mike Mattson MBA’18 spotted a major talent gap at his employer and turned his MBA capstone into an apprenticeship program to help find a solution. By graduation, his salary doubled. Three years later, it doubled again. Just as important, he found the confidence to show up fully in his work.

“There's so much value you can get from an MBA in ways that you could probably never imagine until you've gone through it. You get experience and learn to connect the dots across your classes.”

At Willamette University, being a student-athlete means showing up to campus with a built-in community and big expectations. Last fall, Willamette Bearcats posted a 3.49 cumulative GPA, with 226 of 381 student-athletes earning a 3.5 or higher. On the field, in the pool, in the lab, and in the library, Bearcats are getting it done.
