Hi, Iβm Sue.βΏ
Iβm 24. An overthinker by nature and if Iβm not careful a total blabbermouth. Writing gives me the space to pause, backspace, rethink, and say things better. Spoken words donβt come with an undo button but this one does. Hu-ha!
I spend most of my time observing quietly, trying to understand how social media and everything tied to it changes who we are not just online, but offline too. It fascinates me and scares me in equal measure.
For a long time, I felt like everything I wanted to say had already been said. Better. Louder. Cleaner. So I stayed quietβscrolled instead of writing, consumed instead of creating. I hoped Iβd eventually βhave something,β but I wasnβt really working towards it. Eventually, the whole thing wore me down.
Deleting my accounts helped, for a bit. But it didnβt solve the root of the problem. I kept coming back not because I loved social media, but because it was the only form of entertainment and connection I could afford though it came as a double edged sword. It made me think of this one thingβ¦ why do we feel so disconnected in a world thatβs constantly connected?
Months down a rabbit hole laterβreading, researching, observing, unlearningβI landed here. Writing about social media, AI, the way we use (and are used by) the internet, our declining attention span and the bigger stuff too: the algorithm, the loneliness, the illusion of choice, the quiet rebellion of slowing down and so much more.
My only mission is to give people back the control they thought they lost to social media.
I have a YouTube channel that's basically the video version of these newsletters, check it out and see if those will interest you. βΏ
I am also running a social media experimentβ something that takes online friendship matching to a whole other level and might one day change a few things. If you're looking to connect with someone who shares your values, personality, and vibe without all the noise click the link to get started. Iβll match you with a friend who just gets it.
Ps. This isnβt an academic newsletter.
Iβm not a digital wellness guru.
Iβm just a girl sharing her thoughts.
Nothing too deep.
Or maybe⦠just a little bit.
