Hi,

Welcome to Startup Synergy, a newsletter where I analyze tech companies’ strategies, tell their stories, and dissect frameworks. However, it wasn’t always like that! Let me tell you the story.

When I started this newsletter in October 2024, my goal was to only serve founders. Just founders and builders who are building companies. But as I started doing that, giving my readers ideas and advice on how to build a successful company, I quickly realized two things:

  • First, I didn’t just attract founders, but a wide range of professionals

  • Second, I got bored and hated giving startup advice to my readers

The newsletter had reached thousands of subscribers, but it also put me in a tough situation. I was scared to talk about a new topic; nonetheless, I did. I decided to stop giving startup advice and focused heavily on analyzing tech companies’ strategies, telling their stories, and breaking down frameworks.

And thankfully, it worked.

Today, I’m happy to tell you that Startup Synergy is now read by engineers, designers, marketers, managers, and researchers who come from Google, Amazon, Netflix, Microsoft, and Stripe. And of course, the newsletter has always been a place for founders, CEOs, investors, and business owners.

Needless to say, I feel stupid for not knowing exactly why these two categories of people read my work. But I assume, perhaps founders and leaders read the newsletter because it gives them a lens and evidence to make the right business decisions. Working professionals read it as it helps them level up their knowledge and build confidence.

That’s my understanding, if that makes sense.

But if you’re here for the first time, you may not know enough about the newsletter—the type of content I create. So to help you with this, I want to add a few of my essays here that will give an idea of what you can expect from Startup Synergy.

So either check the full archive, or here you go:

So what’s my promise? Once you subscribe, you’ll first get a welcome email from me where I have some more good stuff. And from then on, you can expect to receive one email each week, usually on Saturdays on the said topics.

If you think it’s something you’re down for, consider subscribing for free:

PS: Make no mistakes, there are two aspects of Substack writing: Notes & Emails. While I explained what I do on the email side, I should also be clear that I do the same work on the Note side, occasionally sharing my own thoughts, hot takes, and memes.

Thanks for being here, I really appreciate it.
