I’m a contractor on the data analytics team at Survey 160, where I oversee end-to-end public opinion survey projects for corporate and political clients, work on internal research projects, and contribute to their methodological research blog. On the academic side, I continue to collaborate on scholarly research with faculty from various institutions, primarily with Ryan Kennedy. I earned my PhD in Political Science with focus fields in Methodology (Applied Statistics), American Politics, and Political Psychology from The Ohio State University under the advisement of Thomas J. Wood.
I primarily engage in survey and experimental research, but I am a trained mixed-methods researcher with a strong emphasis on quantitative methods. My substantive research specialties are public opinion, race and ethnicity politics, identity politics, and political behavior. I’m especially interested in the unorthodox dimensions of American political attitudes, such as conspiratorial worldviews and the adoption of political beliefs that undermine one’s own group interests. My regular work tools include R (RStudio) for data cleaning, analysis, and visualization, Qualtrics for data collection, and GitHub for code and data sharing. I’m an R enthusiast. Python only when forced. I treat each dataset like a little puzzle, using my skillset to better understand public opinion and help people make more informed decisions.
In my spare time, I like to write high fantasy fiction novels, read manga, go to the gym, and find cute bakeries. I wasn’t anchored to one place growing up, but I was raised on a steady diet of Rise Against, Audioslave, Conor Oberst, Jawbreaker, AAR, and The Smiths. Music has shaped me a lot. I’ve also been mesmerized by high fantasy settings for longer than I can remember. I tend to binge write when the mood strikes and procrastinate when it doesn’t. I play RPGs and MMOs when I can, but the usual life grind has been getting in the way most days, so my Steam backlog has been growing more menacing lately. I will never quit on my FF14 character though. My newest fixation is of the undead persuasion—read: Astarion Ancunin.

I tend to make it up as I go.
