Hey, it’s Máté and welcome to Slow Curiosity!

I know. Substack is flooded with publications, with writers rejecting fast-paced content, our algorithm-driven online world, and quick solutions.

Well, I am no different.

What’s different about me is my personality.

My own imperfect voice, thoughts, and experiences.

Who am I not?

  • I’m not a Pulitzer winner

  • I’m not a best-selling author

  • I’m not a successful entrepreneur

So who am I?

  • I’m someone with the drive of an explorer, the desire for depth of a philosopher, and the curiosity of a reporter

  • I’m someone who rejects rushed thinking, shallow meaning, and second-hand beliefs

  • I’m someone open and direct about my imperfection, my struggles, but my curiosity

I am an early-30s guy from Budapest, Hungary. I traveled to 57 countries, flown on more than 300 flights, with a dream to be the first Hungarian on the Moon, to complete the 246 km Spartathlon, and to live by the Mediterranean in Greece.

So what is Slow Curiosity?

It’s a journal of reverent depth. Exploring the world, humanity, and the self in a culture obsessed with speed and surface. I go where life feels real: distant countries, the edge of human achievement, grief, joy, and the vastness of space - and I stay long enough to understand it, feel it, and reflect on it.

Here, you won’t find shallow takeaways or recycled beliefs. You’ll find stories, essays, and reflections born from direct experience, curiosity, and emotional honesty. I write for those who want to see, feel, and think deeply, to witness the world as it is, with awe, context, and courage.

Thanks for being here!

Máté
