Join us on Thursday, March 19th for
The Competing Values Framework for HR Business Partners
with presenter Travis Standley
We’re excited to announce that Travis Standley will be joining us as our presenter this month! Travis will be leading a session on the Competing Values Framework, a model developed by researchers Quinn & Rohrbaugh (1983) that explores what makes organizations truly effective.
The framework’s core insight is powerful:
Organizations — and the people within them — achieve success not by maximizing a single value, but by balancing the creative tension between competing values. Travis will walk us through how this model applies to today’s workplaces and how HR leaders can use it to strengthen culture, leadership, and organizational performance.
Travis Standley is a Human Resources professional based in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he lives with his wife and three children. He currently serves as a Senior Employee Relations Consultant at Mountain America Credit Union, where he helps leaders navigate complex workplace challenges with confidence and clarity.
With over 16 years of HR experience, Travis has held various roles, including Employee Relations Consultant at Mountain America Credit Union, Senior HR Business Partner at Curtiss-Wright Corporation, HR Business Partner at Convergys, and Human Resource Specialist at Melaleuca: The Wellness Company.
He holds a Master of Science in Human Resources from Utah State University’s Jon M. Huntsman School of Business and a degree in Business Management from Brigham Young University - Idaho.
In addition to his work in HR, Travis is passionate about developing leaders and advancing the HR profession. As a SHRM-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), he not only holds the credential but also helps train others on their path to certification. He also shares his expertise as an Online Adjunct Instructor at BYU-Idaho teaching courses in Human Resource Management and Organizational Leadership.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Travis is committed to serving his community and actively volunteers to support initiatives that strengthen individuals and organizations. He is also a part-time podcaster, an avid reader, and enjoys discussing books and personal development with others. When he’s not working or teaching, he loves spending time with his family and occasionally hitting the golf course.
