The Separationist is the newsletter of The Secular Humanists of the Lowcountry (SHL), and is published monthly. It is edited by Madelyne Adams, Richard Cook and Tucker Lentz. Contributions to or feedback on the newsletter can be emailed to newsletter@lowcountryhumanists.org.

The Separationist has been published since 1994 when the organization was founded by a group of local non-theists in Charleston, South Carolina. Our members are freethinkers of many kinds. We call ourselves agnostics, atheists, skeptics, secular humanists, rationalists and scientific naturalists.

The newsletter has taken different forms over the years and we started publishing on Substack with the July 2025 issue (Volume 32, Issue 7). The available archives are on our website at https://lowcountryhumanists.org/newsletter/#archive
