What is Anthropocene Times?
This is a place where I write poetry and essays on nature, femininity, emotions and the body.
Publishing monthly, this newsletter uses poetry and prose to: explore our relationship to the natural, social and political phenomena; ruminate on the form itself; and, experiment with genre.
This might appear to be quite broad, but the thread that runs through it all is the natural and the poetic - how they combine, push back against each other and reflect each other. This is the importance.
This is a place for people who care about poetry, literature and the natural environment (whatever that means to you).
Poetic Library Project
Anthropocene Times is also home to the Poetic Library. This is a resource for the Substack community. It is a place where poets can congregate (since Substack won't do it for us). This is also community led - if you comment a poetry ‘stack on this post I will add it to the Library.
Who is Saffron?
Saffron ('Saff') is a London-based writer.
I recently left academia to pursue my writing and I’m now producing work as a freelance editor and writer (alongside a day-job as a bookseller). My academic experience, where I focused on cross-cultural communication and environmental justice, has deeply affected my work.
