September recap & things I’m into

September has been a busy month. We are settling in to our new normal as a family of four and have been enjoying our new addition. During my husbands paternity leave we had an ambitious list of home projects we wanted to accomplish while entertaining a toddler, caring for a newborn and as I recovered from my second c-section in 18 months. Needless to say we are exhausted but these are the days we have dreamed about. The house is a mess but we have happy healthy kids so September was a success!

What I’m watching…

As a Bravo connoisseur life could not be better. So much great content right now but Real Housewives of Salt Lake City and the New RHONY take the cake. I’m into Lisa’s 60,000 ring and Mary’s lack of participation on Salt Lake.

What I’m reading…

I’m getting back into my reading era with my purchase of a kindle. It’s perfect for keeping me awake while feeding a newborn and keeps me from just doom scrolling. This month I read Regretting You by Colleen Hoover and I’m Glad My Mother Died by Janette McCurdy. Still chugging away on Outlive by Peter Attia

What I’m wearing…

These two things are staples of my postpartum wardrobe. The Sublime Nursing Sports Bra is a favorite from my last baby and it’s still a staple in my wardrobe. It’s the only thing that provides support and I love that the padding is removable. The real MVP of my closet is my Lululemon Align Biker Shorts. They were perfect during pregnancy and didn’t stretch at all so they still give that stomach support that I need right now. Classic black if great with any big t-shirt but they also have so many fun colors that I love!

What I’m listening to…

Honestly not a lot. I’ve taken a break from my podcasts but did listen to Call Her Daddy with Alix Earle because like everyone else I’m obsessed. Other than that just listening to Taylor Swift on repeat preparing for her concert next October.

What is in my cart…

Lots of fall clothes for my son. I love this airplane sweat set and jacket from Zara. For me, I have been eyeing this Tuckernuck dress for awhile. I love a good casual dress that can transition to fall.

Hope you enjoyed my monthly recap. Next up spooky season!

The 5 Clean Skincare items I use Everyday

I hate to say I used to be very inconsistent with skincare. As I have gotten older I have realized that less is more for my skincare routine, meaning that I want less products that do more. Also when I found out I was pregnant with my first child in 2021 I wanted to invest in products that are clean even if they were more expensive. I have been slowly switching out products to create a routine with products that actually make a difference. These are my everyday items that I repurchase.

OLEHENRIKSEN Skin Barrier Strengthening Moisturizer

This is my holy grail moisturizer! It hydrates without feeling greasy or too heavy. I love the glow it gives and is a nice thick texture. I use this daily on my face and neck.

OLEHENRIKSEN
Banana Bright+ Vitamin C Brightening Eye Crème

I tried this eye crème with a few other samples and had to get it myself. It has been a repurchase item ever since because it truly works! This is my favorite product to give brightness and it sits perfectly under concealer. It’s a must have for us tired girlies.

Sunday Riley – Juno Antioxidant + Superfood Oil

I started using this recently and holy crap my skin has never felt better! I wish I had known about using oils sooner because this stuff is magic. I use this at night and wake up with the best glow and such clear, soft skin. If I’m feeling extra dry sometimes I use this under my makeup in the morning. Don’t be afraid of using oils even if you have oily skin. You’ll never look back!

Biosansse Squalane + Peptide Brightening and Depuffing Eye Gel

This has been the only eye cream that I have found to actually reduce the darkness under my eyes! I love the ultra-hydrating but weightless gel feel of this product. I use this morning and night for maximum results. Be sure to let it dry before using under makeup.

EltaMD UV Daily Tinted Sunscreen

Sunscreen is essential skincare in my book. I look for something mineral based that is light and tinted for everyday. My aunt recommended this like five years ago and I wish I would have jumped on the train then! I have been using this for about 2 years now and it’s my favorite. It gives a great little glow and doesn’t give you a weird white cast like other mineral sunscreens. I’ve tried others but nothing gets close to this for me!

What should I add to my routine next?

Reid’s into … newborn things

We welcomed our second child a few weeks ago and have officially joined the two under two club. For this baby we already had ALMOST everything we needed and really didn’t end up purchasing much before baby’s arrival. I wanted to wait to purchase things for two reasons 1. I’m cheap and 2. I wanted to see if we actually needed items or if I just thought I needed them. That being said, these three items are probably my holy grail, most used and loved baby items that I’ve been into for newborn life round two

Doona Car seat and Stroller

This was my most used item from my first child and is still my favorite purchase! It’s so convenient to just pop the baby in and not have to worry about carrying a car seat or packing an extra stroller. It lasted us until our son was around one year old and cleaned up really well when we got it out for our second. The only downside is it is not ideal for long walks, which is understandable. It is great for a trip to the pediatrician, target or the airport. It is expensive but I think it was worth the purchase!

My Breast Friend” Breastfeeding Pillow

This has to be the cheesiest name for a product and it’s not the most aesthetically pleasing but it was truly the superior choice when breastfeeding. I love that it was more structured and had good back support. Just skip the other things and trust me on this one.

Design Dua Mosses Basket with stand

This is something we didn’t have with our first baby but I’m so glad we received it as a gift for this go around. We have a bassinet for sleeping in our room upstairs but this is perfect to put the baby down in downstairs. I love that it rocks and that it is too high for our dog or toddler to disturb the baby in. I also love that you can take just the mosses basket out and put it on the floor so the baby can be close when I’m playing with our toddler but the baby is still semi-protected from a stay toy. It’s for sure a splurge item and not necessary but it’s so cute and useful I had to include it.

Those are the top three newborn items I’m into lately! Let me know what your into in the comments!

3 Things on My Wishlist for Fall

Fall has to be my favorite season! Between the crisp weather and the cozy fashion it’s a perfect combination. These are a few things I’m eyeing for this season.

Ugg Tasman’s

These were sold out last year and I regretted not buying them. I have Ugg slippers that I love already but these just seem like the perfect fall cozy vibe. I am a #shortgirl but just can’t get behind a platform pair. Really I need to decide if I want to go classic brown or olive?

Birkenstock Bostons

Who also had these in middle school? I am a Birkenstock girlie and when these came back last year I was hesitant to jump on the train. I frequently wear my Birkenstocks with chunky socks in the fall so this might be a less embarrassing option.

Free People sets

The grip Free People has on me and my wallet is insane. I have tried a few Amazon dupes and they just don’t do it for me. I want nothing more than a cozy, matching set for fall! Nothing says effortlessly hip, comfortable mom vibes quite like these sets for fall. I may only be taking the kids to the public library but at least my outfit will be cute.

I think it’s safe to say my fall vibe is easy and casual. Let me know what’s on your fall wishlist!

Life update

Hello again six months later,

I wanted to be committed to starting a blog but life got busy and I made excuses. In the time since my last post our son turned one, we found out we were expecting our second child (hello two under two club), I survived pregnancy while chasing a toddler, and we welcomed our daughter to the world.

In the moments in between I wrote here and there but never felt compelled to post mainly for fear of something, although I’m not sure what? Fear of what others think, fear of taking a leap, fear of chronic grammatical errors?

Whatever reason holding me back seems to be trivial in the days since our daughter was born. I feel a sense of contentment in my life and motivation to do more of what brings me joy. I think of what I would tell the kids about starting something new… just go for it. I think about my life in 20 years if I let the days turn into years and always think wow I should have done that, I wonder how things could be different.

All this to say now is as good a time as any! I find joy in writing and sharing and honestly could use a hobby that isn’t kid related. So let’s go!

Reids Into It

Well, here we are, back to the blog.

I’ve always wanted to be a blogger, share my favorite things, and write about my life. I am probably the only person who still actually reads blogs and I have for over 10 years now but I do and I love it.

I tried the blog thing when I was a special education teacher (Hello, Mrs.ReidsCrewe) and it was really fun but that feels like a lifetime ago. Since then I have left teaching, had a baby, become a stay-at-home mom, and really deeply feel like a different person.

Tonight as I was on my computer planning my son’s first birthday party I stumbled upon the link to my old blog and thought why don’t I try that again.

I’ve always liked the name Reid’s Into It for a blog because duh things I’m into but I also kind of think it’s a pun for my overthinking and “reading” into things.

So here we are at the start of a new year with a new blog and a first post. Thanks for joining and I hope you stick around for this adventure!
