We would like to receive your responses to unsung routes/places around Plymouth in the form of poems, prose, maps, lists, drawings or paintings. We would also like to receive your drawings of human/non-human hybrids (minotaurs, mermaids, dryads, werewolves etc). Or break the rules, and just send us whatever you like. To make sure your postcards can be identified as part of the Plymouth Labyrinth, please attach a length of red thread to the postcard, or write ARIADNE, or LABYRINTH on your postcard.

‘Plymouth Labyrinth’ is a Crab & Bee project exploring Plymouth as a labyrinth, feeling for the marks and myths of the city’s own epic doing and undoing, and for how those who live here can navigate its tunnels, traps and layers. ‘Plymouth Labyrinth’ assembles various things and actions: maps, paintings, postcards, poetry readings, the invention of new sensory organs, convivial walks, an exhibition at Royal Adelaide Art & Yoga in Stonehouse, a Pantheon handbook for the curious, and games of threads, bones, hearts and keyholes.

Exhibition open 11am-4pm. Closed Mondays.

While ‘Plymouth Labyrinth’ draws together Crab & Bee’s common hyper-sensitized walking, extending and entangling the diagramatics of Bee’s ‘Crossing England’ project with Crab’s mythogeographies, it is mostly about the things, terrains, unhumans and humans of Plymouth. It is a project made by burst pipes, missing rivers, conservation volunteers, Gogmagog, wolves and tungsten. It is an invitation to anyone and everyone to use the ‘Plymouth Labyrinth’ assembly as a web onto which to hang, lean, bolt, tie or knit their walks, games, maps, paintings or whatever they fancy.

Access: RAAY is an old building, a former pub with narrow staircases and various steps. If you think that these may present problems for you, please get in touch and we will do our best to create a bespoke visit and/or bring as much of the exhibition as possible to you: mytho.smith@btopenworld.com
