1. Sawyer jura called up to u.S. U-20 Men's National Team for March Training Camp in Argentina (oursportscentral.com) ā Bend native and Portland Timbers defender Sawyer Jura has been called up to the U.S. U-20 Menās National Team for a March training camp in Buenos Aires, where heāll face Argentina and Club Atletico Independienteās reserves. The 20-year-old left back, who came through Timbersā T2 and has U-17 national team experience, continues to climb the professional ranks.

2. National General Aviation Award Winners Revealed (generalaviationnews.com) ā A Bend resident, flight instructor Mike Kloch, has been named the FAAās 2026 National Certificated Flight Instructor of the Year, putting Bend on the aviation map. Heāll be honored at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh this July, and a future GAA Live! broadcast will feature his insights alongside other national honorees.

Deschutes River is Focus of 'Home Waters' Speaker Series (mycentraloregon.com) ā Bend residents can now register for a multi-week āHome Watersā series exploring Deschutes River water use, conservation, and habitat restoration, with lectures at the High Desert Museum and guided field trips. Experts from the city of Bend, Forest Service, Portland General Electric, and local conservation groups will lead sessions from April 23 through June 12, offering an in-depth look at regional river health.

Think Wild and Cascadia Wild Partner to Expand Rare Carnivore Monitoring to Central Oregon (mycentraloregon.com) ā A Bend-based nonprofit, Think Wild, is teaming up with Cascadia Wild to expand rare carnivore monitoring across Central Oregon, and theyāre recruiting and training local volunteers. From wolf tracking to Sierra Nevada red fox scat collection, Bend residents can join virtual trainings this spring and help gather data that shapes wildlife management and conservation decisions in our region.
