• ‘This is a huge undertaking': Lake Cascade water quality at center of plans for new sewer treatment plant (valleylookout.com) — Water quality problems in Lake Cascade are driving plans for a new mechanical wastewater treatment plant, modeled partly on systems like those serving McCall and Cascade. Consultants say aging septic systems and a leaking treated-wastewater pond in McCall contribute to phosphorus fueling toxic algae blooms. The proposed South Lake sewer project could eventually require mandatory hookups and significant new infrastructure funding.
