2/28: Seed Swap

Dairy Creek Community Food Web is holding a seed swap on Saturday, February 28th from 10am-3pm at the St. Bede’s Church. Come pick up seeds or share your own and meet some fellow gardeners. If you don’t have any seeds, save some from your harvest and bring them next time. Everyone is welcome. There will also be a giveaway table, garden tool sharpening, some delicious baked goods, and gardening information!

3/30 Deadline: FoodCorps Oregon

FoodCorps Oregon is currently recruiting members for the 2026-2027 school year in Oregon’s Hood River County School District. They partner with elementary schools and district leadership to engage students in hands-on food education and nourishing cafeteria projects. Their mission is to ensure all children have access to nourishing meals. Becoming a FoodCorps member is a full-time paid position that comes with many benefits such as up to $40,000 in compensation, health insurance, and more. This opportunity is particularly valuable for graduates seeking experience in fields like nutrition, agriculture, public health, or K-12 education. Applications are due by March 30th, 2026.

2/19: Environmental Bills & What’s Being Voted On

Pacific’s Center for a Sustainable Society (CSS) is tabling in the University Center on Thursday, February 19th from 5:30pm-7pm. Come to the UC to learn about environmental bills being voted on by your legislators in your home state! You can also learn about how to write, call, or visit them. So stop by their table and see what you can do for your community.

4/10 Deadline: Humanities Action Fellowship

Oregon Humanities has recently announced their first Humanities Action Fellowship. This is a supportive fellowship program for young adults aged 18-25 who are interested in developing or facilitating public humanities programs in their communities. Their goal is to create a cohort of 4-6 young adults from around Oregon and support them through the completion of their humanities projects. Fellows will receive a $1,500 honorarium as well as support from a mentor to complete a community-focused project. Applications must be submitted by April 10th, 2026 at 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time.

4/1 Deadline: Exotic Animal Care Internship

Lions, tigers, and bears. Oh my! Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge (TCWR) is looking for self-motivated and passionate individuals for a full-time, six-month animal care internship. Interns will be able to gain hands-on experience in exotic animal husbandry. Responsibilities include daily care of lions, tigers, bears, leopards, cougars, servals, and bobcats. The internship also includes free on-site housing, a weekly stipend of $100, and housing amenities such as paid utilities and internet service. Applicants must have a degree in Zoology, Biology, or a related field, or have relevant experience in exotic animal husbandry. Applications are due on April 1st, 2026.

2/16: Day Without an Immigrant Sidewalk March

Oregon For All and PCUN (Oregon’s Farmworker Union) is hosting a sidewalk march in support of Oregon’s immigrant community. This event will take place at the State Capitol in Salem, Oregon on February 16th from 11am-1pm. This is part of their “Day Without an Immigrant” series, where there will be three more events leading up to May Day 2026.
