Hey friends, making indie rock’n’roll in Brazil is a struggle. It’s a resistance act to release authorial music in the Tik Tok era, keep band culture alive in the solo artists’ era, or do ska punk music in the city of metal. Things became expensive, and time became scarce.
We began this social experiment at the 2015 Carnival, and in 2021 we dropped a killer album that gave us 17K streams on Spotify, a brilliant mark for a small and poor band. Then came the good feedback, mentions, and partnerships. Some optimistic people asked us why not try a mini-tour in São Paulo, Latin America, Europe, or the USA, where #skapunk is booming. But, without support, the gigs are getting harder to do. We’re overcome by tiredness. We have no more time for rehearsals or money to drop new music. Alternative music and punk rock in Brazil resumed in one line: “We are rowing against the tide!”
We fought as long as we could. And we’re exhausted!
Then, for consideration of our fan base worldwide and in #BH city, O Leopardo announces the interruption of our music, a hiatus for an undetermined time. We continue on music: Filipe and his hobby about new bands, @cantaolivera and his musical career, Moreno and his DJ sets with @tropicalupbeat and @discorocker, and Pigmeu on @disturbiosh drums. We thank all fans that supported us, And thank you from the bottom of our hearts for staying on our show, bought our album and our shirt, and sharing our music out there!
A special thanks to Chris Reeves from Ska Punk International Records who embraced us and dropped our EP in the USA, Beefy from Ska Nation (Australia), who sent our music to the Orient, Punk Rock Magazine(Costa Rica), Toño from @metalpediamx (Mexico), @yobailo.ska (Argentina) for the support in Latin America.
