About Novice10

Novice10 creations are made with love by me, MB! I started Novice10 at age 10 when I was a budding, novice artist and entrepreneur. When I am creating- whether I am crocheting, sewing, making jewelry, or creating DIY patterns- I am in my happy place. Hopefully, I can share that joy with others :). Thanks so much for stopping by my shop. Happy crafting!

My Pattern Making Process: Sewing Patterns

1. Sketch my idea.

All my sewing patterns begin with rough sketches of my ideas. I take my time when deciding on a color scheme.

2. Make paper pattern.

This step helps me to determine the feasibility of my idea. Adjustments and compromises are made. Later, these pieces will be scanned onto my computer so I can make them pattern-ready.

3. Sew it: Trial & Error.

After shopping for fabric (the best part!) and cutting out the pieces, it's time to test my idea. This is the most time-consuming part of the process. More adjustments are made. Detailed photos are taken of each step.

4. Create the pattern.

Once my idea has been brought to life- and all the kinks have been resolved- I create my easy and fun fully illustrated sewing pattern. The pattern is edited and tested before it is published.

Bunzo Bunny

1. Sketch my idea.

All my crochet patterns begin with rough sketches of my ideas. With crocheting, the devil is in the details and I have to be as precise as possible with my design.

2. Crochet it: Trial...

After shopping for yarn, I begin crocheting. My starting point varies per project. Countless adjustments are made.

... & Error.

There are times when I have to abandon the project, buy a different brand of yarn, and start from the beginning. For every adjustment, important lessons are learned.

3. Create the pattern.

I create the pattern as I'm crocheting. Taking pictures and meticulously counting each stitch as I go. The pattern is edited and tested before it is published.
