Notes is an app for easily taking organized notes on your Mac. Despite the simplicity implied by its name, this app is much more than a simple notepad. In terms of features, in fact, the app is closer to OneNote, Microsoft's popular notes app.

The first thing that stands out when you open Notes is its folder and label organization system. In the left column, you will find a complete list with all the folders and labels you have created. Thanks to this, all your notes can be perfectly organized and filtered. This layout, as mentioned above, is very similar to that of OneNote or other popular note apps for Mac and iOS.

As usual, you can create subfolders within each folder you create. And of course, within each subfolder, you can create as many notes as you want and add any of the many tags that you will most likely generate. Thanks to the tag system, you will also be able to find any of your notes much faster, regardless of the folder you put them in.

Another aspect to keep in mind about Notes is that it has a good handful of options to customize its appearance. First of all, it offers several different font types as well as various sizes. Secondly, and more importantly, it has three visual themes. There are the usual light and dark modes, but there is also a very elegant sepia mode.

Notes is a great notes app that is also 100% free and open source. Thanks to its folder and label system, as well as its auto-save function, you will never lose or misplace your notes again.
