As you may have heard, StackOverflow is effectively dead, the number of questions having reached virtually zero.
It is true that StackOverflow was and still is one of the sources of programming answers for both Google and various LLMs to be trained upon. It is a goldmine of programming knowledge. And now that it’s dead, the goldmine will never grow.
The problem is, StackOverflow is also cancer. It was given an opportunity for people to treat other people with absolute discrespect. People powerless in their miserable lives suddenly found an outlet where they could put down other people just because they didn’t frame the question in the exact way they want.
I will not shed a tear for StackOverflow. It’s meaningless and the horrible people who populate it should just f off to /pol or wherever such trolls can exist in an edgy clossed-off ecosystem where calling people N~ers and f~ots is the norm. So long as they stay in their walled garden, everything will be fine.
Only thing that makes me sad is that Spolsky managed to exit SO instead of going down with the ship.
