Welcome to Circle Up!

Welcome to Circle Up! Mitch Center’s newsletter for curious school leaders everywhere.

Years ago I wrote a blog for Edutopia called Talking in the Hall: Three Questions Principals Should Be Asking. Since then, I’ve thought a ton about the questions we ask and the discussions they spark.

This Substack will pose questions and explore ideas to help leaders start conversations.

Come, enjoy, and take what you need and leave what you don’t!

My current work…

In the 9 years I’ve been leading Center Educational Consulting and Center Leadership Circles as a coach and facilitator of learning, I have worked to combat the loneliness that leaders often feel, and to connect them to new ideas and people and competencies that support their effectiveness.

My coaching and consulting has brought me into contact with thousands of school and district leaders from around the world. Leaders of giant urban districts and small tribal schools and medium-sized parochial schools and charter networks that range from one to several hundred schools.

What’s true everywhere is that the decisions leaders make, the conversations they have, and the work they do has a direct impact on the teachers, kids, families and communities they are serving. We truly ARE what we discuss (and what we choose not to).

One thing I’ve seen that ALL successful leaders have in common is the curiosity to keep learning and the courage to engage in important conversations. My hope is that Circle Up! will help you and your teams get smarter while making space for important conversations to occur.
