On Saturday 14th of October 2023, we were honoured to be asked to join the mitochondrial patient day, hosted by the Newcastle Mito team. We listened to Professor Grainne Gorman who updated us on the clinical trials (now in double figures), had an update on the Leigh Syndrome research project that Leigh Network supported. This was from Dr Albert Lim and Bobby McFarland. As Leigh Network is such a small charity, run entirely by volunteers for our community, it really was a big deal to be asked. We were delighted to meet familiar faces and new ones too!! π

Mito Fact: Mito is not new! Understanding and knowledge has improved since the first diagnosis, but there is so much more to do! This is why it is so important to raise awareness about mitochondrial diseases. Awareness means more research and more research is the only way to find treatments and a cure. We had a fabulous time on Saturday at our Leigh Network Family Day at the Newcastle Life Science Centre. Thank you to everyone who came along and to Dr Lyndsey Butterworth and Dr Albert Lim from Mitochondrial Research for an insightful talk together with a Q&A session and activities.
