The Pause is for people who want to live and create with intention but struggle with energy, burnout, or sustaining gentle routines.

In a world that celebrates speed, output, and constant productivity, The Pause offers something different: a slower, more humane way of moving through life.

This is a space to arrive, breathe, and build rhythms you can actually return to — in your body, your creative work, and your days.

Here, we don’t optimize for hustle.
We practice returning.

When we pause, we can choose what matters.
We can create without overworking.
We can rest without guilt.
We can listen instead of disconnecting.

That is the heart of The Pause.


Hi, I’m Laia

I’m Laia Bové (like Maya with an L).

I’m an Afro-Catalan writer, yoga educator (E-RYT 500 & YACEP), and professional figure skater, born and raised in Barcelona, and currently living with a chronic illness.

Living with fluctuating energy has shaped how I work, create, and care for myself. Over time, slowing down became less of a choice and more of a practical necessity — and eventually, a practice.

My experience as an elite athlete who had to rethink her entire way of living informs how I approach both wellness and creativity. I’m drawn to practices that are:

  • accessible

  • trauma-aware

  • community-centered

…and not performative, exclusive, or rooted in hustle culture.

I write and teach from lived experience, not theory, in the hopes to inspire you to find what works for you.

I share in English and Catalan, and my debut novel, ‘Saber tornar’, is now out in bookstores.
