Frequently Asked Questions

General

For underbar equipment, the serial number contains the month and date the equipment was built. For example, if you have serial number 100300060009. The first two digits are “10”, indicating it was built in October. The last two digits are “09”, indicating it was built in 2009. The rest of the numbers are not related to the date built.

For refrigeration, head to https://www.partsbykrowne.com/ and type in your serial number in the search bar on the homepage. Or reach out by phone +1 (800) 631-0442 or email support@krowne.com with your serial number.

The type of stainless steel we use does not rust. Any rust is usually caused by some other material coming in contact with the stainless steel and transferring rust onto it. Be advised, bleach is the number 1 contender that makes equipment look like its "rusting" as well as units placed outdoors and closer to beach areas due to the salt water in the air.

Our stainless steel can be cleaned with an AJAX and water mixture or a product like Barkeeper’s Friend and a sponge. Always clean in the direction of the grain.

Underbar

5-1/2" (inches)

Underbar and hand sinks are made of 20 gauge stainless steel.

We use 1-5/8” diameter legs on all underbar.

We use universal ice bin cover model numbers for full and partial sliding covers. Use the appropriate model number for the partial or full cover and specify with a note which ice bin it will be used for.

Plumbing

Backflow preventers are complex, high‑risk safety assemblies—often incorporating multiple check valves—designed to stop contaminated or non‑potable water from flowing back into a potable water system.

Check valves are basic one‑way, non‑return valves that permit flow in only one direction but do not provide the comprehensive protection required for high‑hazard applications.

Vacuum breakers are devices that specifically prevent back‑siphonage by introducing air into the system to break the vacuum. They are typically used in lower‑hazard or atmospheric/pressurized applications such as irrigation systems.

Alchemy Series

These units come standard with a Quick Release faucet, and there is an open 6” space under the unit to access the floor drains.

These are included standard on Alchemy Series units.

We are working on expanding the Alchemy Series selection, but you can seamlessly integrate Royal Series equipment with Alchemy Series units. Not all equipment requires 32.5” working height, generally 30” is sufficient but for central working areas like “The Lab” we recommend going with  the 32.5” Alchemy options.

View our blended bar design options here: https://krowne.com/files/premium-series-combo-sell-sheet

There are a few minor add-ons available, but generally the Alchemy Series comes fully loaded with all available features.

32.5” is a more ergonomic height for bartenders and will be more comfortable for them to make drinks on throughout their shift. Our Royal Series perfectly integrates next to the Alchemy Series when needed.

Only available on 41” height die wall. Alchemy Series requires 41” total height to allow for more clearance with its increased 32.5” working height.

Predrilled or loose, just like Royal Series. Make sure to request this in the quoting/design phase.

Absolutely, like our other product lines, this equipment is built as separate units and can be laid out in whatever order the customer prefers.

Yes, but there will be a mark up associated with the upgrade. Lead times are increased as well.

No, only the Thirty-Eight lab is available with pull-out drawers. The rest of the units have cabinet bases with swing doors or an ultra low profile refrigerator option.

MoveWell

3/8” water line in, (1) central 1” drain out. Each MoveWell insert that requires a drain will come with one installed, and drains into the main MoveWell basin which utilizes (1) centralized 1”  drain.

Casters aren’t recommended due to added movement but can be installed by matching the plate the legs are currently bolted in with. If you are interested in casters, the 28-116S would be the model to use for these units.

Either way is available.

Due to the use of all premium quality components, with proper upkeep there should not be issues but we do offer the option to go to all 304 stainless steel at a markup.

They would be pushed up against an open die wall but not attached to wall to allow unit to be pulled out if needed.

In most scenarios, you would want at least 50% of your bartender workstations to be static stations as all station do not need the ability to be changed throughout the day. The remaining 50% can be MoveWell adaptive stations.

No, the Alchemy Series Forty-Eight Lab is available with a refrigerated base as well.

We recommend the KR24-GSB5, Multi-Use Storage Cabinet with pull-out shelves.

Ice Bins

Silver Series: #10 5/8” Sheet Metal Screws. Royal Series: #12 5/8” Sheet Metal Screws. These are not supplied by Krowne.

A partial cover is required if the ice bin has bottle wells, leaving space on each side for those to sit in the bin. A full cover will cover the entire ice bin from front to back and left to right; Bottle wells cannot be used with this cover.

You need a 1-1/2” x 1” ST bushing, which should be carried at most/all plumbing and hardware stores. ST stands for “socket by thread”.

Refer to the Ice Bin Leak Test manual. Click Here.

A 1/2 inch tap can be used on Ice Bins with cold plates if threading becomes stripped.

Casters

Yes, our casters fit a variety of other manufacturer's equipment. Please refer to our cross-reference search to find the right caster for your model. https://krowne.com/crossover/

Low Lead Compliance

The Plumbing Manufacturers Institute (PMI) has disclosed that due to advancements in materials and the manufacturing process, lead levels have been reduced to negligible amounts. Presently, old pipes and copper plumbing system components used to distribute water is the main contributor of very small amounts of lead in water.

Yes, Krowne plumbing products meet the low lead regulatory requirements. If you need specific documentation regarding a products compliance please email support@krowne.com
