I’m a children’s book illustrator & author, which basically means being a lighthouse keeper. Sometimes I have panic attacks when I look back and think I was crazy enough to try to make a living out of drawing pictures.

But somehow it all worked out. It’s been like a vaudeville movie sort of, where disasters arrive at every turn, but somehow the protagonist survives.

10 years of posting on Blogger and it never crossed my mind to charge for the art I make up. I just do it for fun.

Though I do actually have a lot ‘illustration trade secrets’ that might work well for a substack extended knowledge deal. I remember after spending days trying out techniques, and I’d finally solve the riddle… and think ‘I’ll bet artists would like knowing these tricks!’

But luckily, no one seems to be interested in my working methods… so I’m off the hook for that one.

Anyhow it’s fun to bluster my way into the mysteries of Substack.

Instagram and Twitter and Facebook seem to be lots more trouble and don’t seem to last.

So maybe this will be a fun place to post things.
