Hey everyone,
So, as you may know, Ironwatch is primarily a one-person show when it comes to publishing. We’ve had and have an excellent batch of editors helping make sure the content you’re reading is top-notch, but for the most part I’m the one editing your wonderful submissions into the magazine issue, or formatting and putting the final touches on an Ironwatch Game publication.
This has had some benefits, but the downsides are starting to crop up. I’ve begun graduate school, and a combination of that and a very unfortunately hectic and stressful last year has meant that I’ve not been able to devote the time and energy needed in order to help Ironwatch succeed and publish the remaining Quarantine and Ironwatch Finale in the timeframe I was aiming for (Namely, before today!)
Furthermore, I’ve been accepted into graduate school, and while this is great news, it also means a further reduction of my already-scarce time for working on the magazine, and for working on projects such as the ship and terrain creation tutorials planned for Quarantine’s rulebook.
What does this all mean?
In a nutshell, the publication dates are out the window.
I hate cutting out on a promise, and I do feel you all deserve a Deluxe version of Quarantine, as well as a stupendous Finale issue to send off the magazine. I will be working on them each time I am able to, but these days will likely be few and far between. I’m hoping to try and get stuff out within the next 4-6 months, but I unfortunately can’t guarantee that timeline at this point.
How can I help?
Right now, the biggest impediments to releasing the Deluxe version of Quarantine is the Tutorials section. Unlike Star-Struck City, Mawbeast Madness, and Tetra Firma, standard Mantic or competitior 28mm miniatures can’t be just used directly in Quarantine. While spaceship model lines do exist, I wanted to focus on including at least a small number of tutorials out on how to make rough-and-ready ships using Warpath model sprues and bits, and commonly-available materials.
A huge help for this would be for you to please submit your own tutorials on how to make a cool little starship, using Mantic sprues and common materials (Like straws, toothpicks, tongue depressors, deoderant sticks, or whatever else stuff you find useful) and submitting them to us here at ironwatchmagazine@gmail.com. Having these on-hand will be a huge timesaver, and change the number of days needed to get Quarantine ready to publish from a few weeks to just a few days.
As for the Ironwatch Finale, we just need more content! Thus far we have a Dungeon Saga expansion and a short story or two, but more material would be very much appreciated: after all, it would be fantastic to send Ironwatch off with a bang!
In Closing
Thank you all for your support over the years. I know disappointing news isn’t always welcome, and I appreciate your patience and understanding at this time. Hopefully, we’ll have the final two publications out the door in short order over the coming months!
Thanks you.
