ifOnlyi… is a raw, unvarnished memoir of a life that looked privileged from the outside—and felt anything but safe on the inside.
Each story begins with a lesson I wish I had understood sooner. Not advice from a distance, but hard-earned truths drawn from mistakes, rebellion, miracles, and close calls—shared so readers might recognize their own crossroads sooner than I did.
I grew up in sunny Southern California, raised by two parents building a global business. From the outside, it looked like a dream. Inside, it was structure, pressure, and rules. I learned to rebel in ways that came with consequences—accidents, arrests, firings, and a growing distance from the people whose approval I wanted most.
At four years old, my parents sent me to Black-Foxe Military Institute in Hollywood. It was the beginning of a life shaped by discipline, danger, ambition—and an ache I didn’t yet have words for.
A CFO once told me:
“Nepotism is not an option for you, Ollie. Your mom wants you to be successful—but not as successful as she is.”
I thought I would prove her wrong.
My stories span a life lived across the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Ireland—through childhood chaos, reckless teenage years, business wins and losses, injustice and justice, and the darkest corners of my family’s world. Along the way came illness, courtroom battles, and moments when I walked away—again and again—from situations I should not have survived.
I’ve faced death twenty-two times. Not all at once. Not all early. But threaded across a lifetime of choices, risks, and consequences.
Beneath every fight and every victory, I was chasing the same simple thing:
my parents’ approval, their respect, and the words, “I love you, son.”
These stories are true. Some are wild. Some are humorous. Some are painful. All of them shaped the man I became.
If only I had learned the lessons sooner, perhaps my journey would have been easier. I write now in the hope that you—my reader—can learn from my mistakes, avoid some of the damage, and find your own voice with fewer scars than I did.
