Human behind Humanly

Welcome to my space!

My name is Paula and curiosity is my second nature. I live and breathe emotion so I’m always on the hunt for good old MAGIC. There’s the expression in my native language Polish that perfectly summarizes the kind of magic I’m talking about - porusza ducha. In rough translation, anything that moves the spirit, and stirs up the feeling.

I love telling stories of the mundane because they often treasure the kind of feeling that all of us can resonate with. I, too, with Yeats wait for our senses to grow sharper to see the hidden beauty in everything that surrounds us.

My adventure with writing started at the age of 7 when I received my first hard-covered journal to kill the time. My first entries we rather self-indulging describing my favorite past times like climbing trees to pluck the ripest cherries or making impressions of my favorite cartoon characters but with time, they captured more nuanced emotions, people, and situations. Until today, I got into the habit of processing life on the page, more so, my impression would not be complete or even real without me putting it on paper.

I love the short forms of fiction because they are more motivated by the impression they want to leave you with than the actual plot. They are bite-size feelings that let you see life in a different light.

In this newsletter, I’ll entertain you with weekly short stories, flash fiction, poetry, and monthly podcast episodes (solocasts and interviews) that will hopefully let you see life past the mundane.

Cheers,

Paula
