Mx HDX Dancers

In a production like Miss Hendrix, there are layers to the behind-the-scenes work. Leading up to the big night, contestants hit up craft and thrift stores, pick up sewing and bedazzling, and mix music to create an elaborate show that is a feast for the eyes and ears.    For senior Piper Fisherman (Sir Thrustsalot), Miss Hendrix is an opportunity to lean into his creative writing skills and tell a story through dance. But moving from pen and paper to an entire performance has also given him the push to develop new skills, especially when it comes to props and costuming.   “[I learned] a lot of costuming making skills such as weaving specific things, making EVA foam armor,” Fisherman said. ”I had never done anything … Continue reading Mx HDX Dancers

Meet the Public Safety Officers

If you have ever locked yourself out of a building or been startled by the sight of an unsettlingly agile raccoon climbing a tree, you have probably found yourself dialing the number for Hendrix’s Public Safety. Public Safety provides a variety of services: vehicle and building lockouts, emergency first response, on-campus transportation, parking enforcement, vehicle registration, crime prevention and education, vehicle jump-starting, threat notification, weather warnings, and collaboration with all campus offices.    It can be daunting to call Public Safety; phone calls are anxiety-inducing enough on their own, and admitting to a stranger that you’ve messed up and need help is infinitely worse. That’s why Public Safety officers don’t have … Continue reading Meet the Public Safety Officers

He then pursued a Master of Science in Leadership Development from the University of Nebraska, all while beginning a career in academia.   His career in student affairs has taken him to … Continue reading New Interim and Vice President JB Banks

Mx. Hendrix Untucked

When so many facets of society turn questionable, why do we seek one answer? If one is socaught up in social convention and the institutions that reify it that they confuse it with reality, how could they liberate themselves; who else would? Justification is its own form of judgment, and no one I spoke to in Mx. Hendrix feels the need. Hearing from the following individuals about their artI’ve learned certainty isn’t truth, beauty is, and the road to cool is lifelong. They showed me the past far out as the future, the present being where they live. So, approaching Mx. Hendrix as a first-time attendee, I spoke to those involved about why … Continue reading Mx. Winter Interlude

Winter break is the highlight of the semester: a chance to sleep in, relax, and recharge before the spring rush. After months of early mornings, late nights, and packed schedules, students eagerly anticipate this pause from campus life. A recent campus poll revealed how students plan to spend their downtime: 47% said they’re catching up on sleep, 35% focus on family (or taking space from it), 21% plan to binge shows or snacks, 17% want to get away from campus, and only 4% admitted to stressing over Microsoft Teams notifications.  Sleep clearly reigns supreme. Many students see winter break as an opportunity to … Continue reading Winter Interlude
