Hendrix Tennis

Our Hendrix sports teams are a labor of love as students come together and put their all into everything they do. Their dedication to practice and performance in games/matches shine through in their comradery. This is especially true for our tennis team, who this past season comprises six members, which is the member limit per both boys’ and girls’ teams. All current members must participate in every match which has tested their abilities and teamwork.  “So far this has been our best season so far. We just got back from Orlando, and we won three out of four of our … Continue reading Hendrix Tennis

Toga Time

Hendrix sponsored parties are usually an annual event with a recurring theme. Most parties are easy to prepare for like Ghost Roast, SOCO 54, and Formal, while some themes are out there like Robots or the recent addition of Jarty. Each party brings its own crowd with varying levels of commitment to following the dress code. Another popular campus party is Toga, which brings the school year to a close. Compared to most other parties on campus, toga is uniquely evocative of Greek life. The campus’ lack of fraternities and sororities has left a gap for people who are interested … Continue reading Toga Time

Beyoncé: Act II

At the end of March, Beyoncé continues the rollout of her three-part project with Act II. Coming right off the tales of Renaissance, for which—fans note—visuals have yet to be released, the queen is set to release another full-length album. While most of the internet seems to be celebrating the drastic shift, some people are less than happy with the artists’ new endeavors.    Some country radio stations have already expressed their … Continue reading Beyoncé: Act II

Conway City Remapping: Roundabouts

The following is important news that affects everyone living in Conway surrounding our roadways. The City of Conway has announced they will be replacing all traffic lights and intersections with roundabouts. After long thought and deliberation, the leaders of our community have decided that traffic lights pose too much danger for Conway’s citizens. The ever-present issue of road rage and refusal to follow traffic laws makes intersections a hazard to all. Pedestrians and bicyclists were in the hearts and minds of legislators as they heroically took a stand against reckless driving. Roundabouts, in their simplicity, have often been described as … Continue reading Conway City Remapping: Roundabouts

Miss Hendrix Alumni Importance

Miss Hendrix is a campus tradition that uses the art of drag to allow students the opportunity to perform for their peers while raising money for the community. While I’ve only been to one Miss Hendrix show, I felt the power in each performance and each contestants’ strive to win. While Miss Hendrix is an old tradition, it has continued to evolve alongside the student body.  Hendrix alum Anthony Lucio competed in Miss Hendrix thirteen years ago, in 2011. I interviewed him via email, during which he described Miss Hendrix as a “decades-old drag show for charity.” His first time … Continue reading Miss Hendrix Alumni Importance
