I am currently a third-year PhD student at the University of Bologna.
Here is a list of my research projects:

• Mitonuclear coevolution — across Metazoa, with a particular focus on how coevolution shapes phylogenetic signal.
• smithRNAs — a class of small non-coding RNAs encoded in the mitochondrial genome. SmithRNAs influence nuclear transcription through RNA interference in the Manila clam Ruditapes philippinarum, our model species for this project (PIs: M. Passamonti, F. Plazzi; MitoMicro).
• First large-scale phylogenomics of the Gastrotricha phylum — in collaboration with the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy, PI: A. Todaro).
• Spiralian phylogenomics - with a focus on Rouphozoa.
• microRNA annotation in:
  • Tardigrada — collaboration with The Arctic University of Norway (PI: B. Fromm) and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (PI: M. Cesari).
  • Gastrotricha — collaboration with The Arctic University of Norway (PI: B. Fromm) and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (PI: A. Todaro).
