OpenMLServerException: Authentication failed - None

I am interested in learning how OpenML functions, however, when I run through the tutorials I frequently get the following error:

OpenMLServerException: Authentication failed - None

I have signed up for an account with OpenML, and have inserted my API key where appropriate: in the notebook files, and ~/.openml/config. Is there something that I am missing?
