Work Slice changes landing in main tree instead of work tree

Debian 12 on WSL2, Windows 11

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Multiple times I've had this happen in the past 24h on both 0.6.16 and 0.6.17:

 • I need your direction before proceeding.

   I just обнаружил неожиданные, uncommitted changes in the main worktree (not in agent worktrees). Per the dev instructions, I must stop and ask how you want to handle this.

   Here’s the change set currently sitting in master (grouped):

(Also not sure why there is random Russian in there, but occasionally I get a spot of Russian of Chinese, that's a model issue I think)
