JQT freezes when there's an endless loop and doesn't allow to kill on linux

When using the IDE if i accidently set off an endless loop, it ends up freezing my entire laptop, forcing me to restart the computer. And I lose all of my work on the IDE that wasn't previously saved. Perhaps it's because I'm using a weak linux machine, but still, there aught to be safeguards.

@bilam I'm using linux, JBreak doesn't exist. Furthermore, it freezes the entire computer, not allowing the smallest intterupt through. The IDE just hogs the whole machine. What I'm suggesting is that there be a timer or at least a confirmation to continue after a certain amount of compilation time. Better still if it could recognize the endless loop, though that's probably a research topic in J

J can't freeze the entire linux machine purely by infinite loop because the OS is preemptive multiprocessing. I suspect it happened because your program requested a huge amount of memory that lead to virtual memory disk swapping.

@bilam I dunno, I wasn't able to open the system manager. For all I know you're right and it's an OS problem, but it still shouldn't happen, and it's the only IDE in my experience that was able to freeze the entire computer.
