🛡️ Sentinel: [CRITICAL] Fix command injection in NpmPackageService via execFile and shell: true#58
🛡️ Sentinel: [CRITICAL] Fix command injection in NpmPackageService via execFile and shell: true#58
Conversation
🚨 Severity: CRITICAL 💡 Vulnerability: Used `execFile` with `shell: true` to execute `.cmd` files on Windows. 🎯 Impact: This allowed command injection through shell meta-characters. 🔧 Fix: Replaced `execFile` with the `cross-spawn` package which handles Windows execution correctly without needing `shell: true`, neutralizing command injection payloads. ✅ Verification: Ran unit tests and manually verified that `safeExecAsync` uses `cross-spawn` effectively.
