Security Concerns
The privacy and security of the community are of the utmost importance, so we decided to make ProTechMe a web app for the following reasons:
- A standalone mobile app could be found on a domestic violence survivor’s phone, thus endangering them, while a web app could be easily hidden.
- Encryption: web app will always have https
- Using a clear script, we can ensure that we will not be keeping the info user put into the webpage.
- Right now, lots of chat bots require Facebook, Slack, Instagram - third parties that could be compromised (and FB isn’t trusted by everyone).
