pip install issue

Hi and thank you very much for the nice tools!

Recently I wanted to use the python binding for ASMC/FastSMC and faced the following issue:

when trying to install the library with

pip install asmc-asmc

(as advised here) I get the following error

ERROR: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement asmc-asmc (from versions: none)
ERROR: No matching distribution found for asmc-asmc

However,

pip install asmc

works and loads version 0.1

So my question is whether asmc-asmc is a typo or it corresponds to a newer version of asmc and in the later case I'm having some local issues with installing asmc-asmc.

Hi @vasilipankratov,

This repository is still pre-release, so as you have found not everything is working yet. In particular, we have not yet released the Python wheels on PyPI.

If you would like to use them before the official release, I would suggest following these instructions.
Please make sure that when you clone the repository you do so with this command:

git clone --recurse-submodules https://github.com/PalamaraLab/ASMC

which is very slightly different to the instructions in that developer quickstart.

We are using RHEL 7.9.
We've created a conda environment with Python 3.10.6

I believe this is because we have not yet generated new binaries for Python 3.10. I'll try and sort that soon, but in the meantime please try again with Python 3.9.

Hay, I've managed to install ASMC. Quick question, would you recommend this tool for exome data?
