Build Quality Checks Unable to get result from API after 5 attempts

I randomly get the error "Unable to get result from API after 5 attempts" on the Build Quality Checks v9. This is running on a build server that is on our corporate network which is trying to get the results from Azure DevOps. I suspect this is a network/firewall issue on my end. However, is there something I can do to view the details of the failed responses from the API? This could be helpful in being able to get assistance from my network team.

Hi @kyleherzog,

one thing you can do is add the variable System.Debug to your pipeline and set it to true or check the "Enable diagnostic logging" option when queueing the pipeline run manually. This shows more output about the context of the API call. However, all errors returned from APIs should always be logged to the log file anyway.

Our auto-retry logic should show more information like this:

In this case, there was no result from an API that should have a result. In case of an error, you should see error information before the line "...retrying after X milliseconds".

With System.Debug set to true we should see which part of the task is calling an API, so I can tell you more about the API itself.

I set system.debug = true. This does result in some more data in the logs, but I'm still not seeing any helpful error details. I was hoping to see a more detailed exception message, response code, or response body.

It could even be helpful to see what the endpoint is that it is trying to hit if it is something other than the System.CollectionUri.

could you share the full log with us via email to PSGerExtSupport@microsoft.com? Without the context around the message, I cannot tell you which endpoint we're contacting. The task is using the Azure DevOps Node API library, which doesn't log the specific URLs it is calling.
