lack of support for unevenly sampled data

The code currently only supports samples that are evenly spaced in time. Supporting non-evenly sampled data points would require a few changes to the mex code ...

This is still low priority because it is not clear that anyone uses it. Just to clarify right now the mex code basically ignores x-values because everything is evenly spaced, so we can get min and max values for the first n samples, then the next n samples, etc. If we went to unevenly spaced we would first need to find regions of interest before computing min and max.
