Enable parameter set selection within a parent product system

Product system A: contains multiple parameter sets - Baseline, Parameter set A1, and Parameter set A2

Product system B contains Product system A as a child product system (or sub-product system): it would be nice to allow the selection of a product system A parameter sets (either Parameter set A1 or Parameter set A2) within the parameter set definition of product system B.

We are thinking about making parameter sets stand-alone datasets (same as flows, global parameters, etc.) so that it is easier to reuse them in product systems and projects. A product system could then have a default parameter set. In a calculation, the selected parameter set of a product system would be then also applied to the sub-systems unless a sub-system has a default parameter set with a flag like do not overwrite. What do you think?

I think this sounds like it's in the right direction. I need more clarification on what exactly the parameter set of a product system would include. Is the idea that when you're defining a parameter set for a product system with sub-systems, that the drop-down menu would include all the processes contained in the sub-system? Then those parameters would override parameter values within that subsystem?

I think for my use case, what I would want to do before calculating a product system is to change the default parameter set for the sub-system and mark it as do not overwrite. Does that sound right to you?

Alternatively, when defining a parameter set for the parent product system, could we allow the choice of a parameter set for sub-systems?
