Version mismatch in remote container

Environment: Remote Ubuntu 20.04LTS container
From cli: There is no python2.7 version:

root@training:~/toolchain# whereis python
python: /usr/bin/python /usr/bin/python3.8-config /usr/bin/python3.8 /usr/lib/python3.9 /usr/lib/python3.8 /etc/python3.8 /usr/local/lib/python3.8 /usr/include/python3.8   

In python env interpreter:

/usr/bin/python is tagged as Python 2.7.16 64-bit, and it is exactly what my default python 3.8.10 is, since the packages I installed can be interpreted only when I choose the 2.7 one.
It is not a severe error but can mislead the selection.
