Talk: Docker intro (api + db + lb) setup

I figure an interesting use case would be to take a real application (if possible) and setup a db container and load balancer all inside docker (and docker-compose).

+1 I'd love to see more of what people are doing with Docker. I've only been dabbling with it.

My problem with docker is that as a sysadmin dealing primarily with managing a horde of small windows domains, I don't have a good use case, and that in turn makes it harder for me to understand the value. So talking about a variety of practical use cases would be great.

@cat5inthecradle Yea, I think to understand where docker is useful it's important to have a good grasp on how virtualized environments can be useful. So a tool like vagrant or vms with automation when they start might be a good start before a talk like this.

I've introduced Docker into a few areas where it really 'fit' the use case - primarily being those that:

1. Are projects that I want to require very minimal "ops" type of support for one reason or another (something experimental, something that you can somewhat turn developers 'loose' on to manage a Docker container and configure required software, etc. That lets me (and the team) not have to spend a lot of time on a project that we might be testing a certain utility for. The application can just be deployed almost like a package, which is fantastic. (Esp. in the case where we have data scientists compiling a bunch of software, etc.)

2. The case where you want to isolate system resources somewhat - if a 'container' goes down, it will only affect the container not other applications on the server. (Given restrictions on resources, etc.)

3. Packaging up applications that require a lot of overhead in tinkering with OS libraries. (Yes, there are a few of those.)

What I haven't gotten into at this point is running an entire container "ecosphere" with Fleet, Kubernates, etc. For the most part, I've been using Docker as a form of bastardized package management and deploying containers with Puppet.
