We need a policy for both AI code contributions and review. This includes both fully autonomous bot contributions that we may receive and human use of LLM assisted code.

This is an active discussion on many repositories right now, such as astropy and blender.

Some examples that allow with disclosure:

Issues include repos like godot drowning in AI slop PRs

Copyright is another potential issue as this comment on blender points out:

If all coding AI is filled with just as much copyright content as the image generators, etc and it’s the user/business that’s on the legal hook if they make use of any of that content (not the AI companies), then the AI policy is easy. You can’t use AI, for anything, full stop.
