VidSnatch requires Python 3.10+ installed via Homebrew. If you're starting from a fresh macOS installation, follow these steps:
1. Install Homebrew (if not already installed)
Open Terminal and run:
/bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/HEAD/install.sh)"After installation, follow the instructions to add Homebrew to your PATH.
2. Install Python 3.12 and tkinter
brew install python@3.12
brew install python-tk@3.12- Download VidSnatch - Clone or download this repository
- Run the installer - Double-click
🎬 VidSnatch Manager.command(or runpython3 gui_installer.pyfrom Terminal) - Choose "Install" - The installer will set up everything automatically
- Setup Browser Extension - Follow the guided setup for Chrome or install the Firefox extension manually
That's it! VidSnatch is now running in your menu bar and ready to download videos.
- Visit any video site (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, etc.)
- Click the VidSnatch extension in your browser toolbar
- Hit "Download Video" - Your video will start downloading immediately
