The Fractal Lotus

A reflected golden spiral generates a fractal lotus

A fractal pattern repeats itself at all scales of aggregation, with each scale reinforcing the pattern at other scales.

The lotus is an aquatic plant that plays a central role in Indian religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Jainism. Lotuses are symbols of purity and ‘spontaneous’ generation and hence symbolize divine birth.

At Angkor Wat it is said that lotus buds serve as architectural inspiration for the monument’s towers, symbolizing creation and awakening.
