Never forget that Jamaica is not a real place. #iykyk

If you’re curious about what it’s been like leaving the US and living in the Jamaican countryside from the perspective of a Gen X white woman who moved to Jamaica alone in 2018 with two backpacks and her cashed-out-early retirement in the bank, this publication is for you (spoiler alert: the universe surprised me with a Jamaican husband less than two years after I moved to the island and that changed my path in the most vibrant of ways).

Jamaica has been one of my greatest teachers since 2015, and I’ve had both the grandest and the worsest adventures of my life on this likkle island. From my experiences as a single woman and tourist to the evolution of married life (2nd time’s a charm!), there’s no shortage of stories, laughs, tears, learnings, and wisdoms (I’ll share some travel tips, too, because sharing is caring).

My journey, and thus my perspective and storytelling, has been influenced by my study, practice, and experience with buddhism, mindfulness, yoga, reiki, trauma, burnout, healing, and my discovery of the power of choosing to cultivate peace through it all.

Most likely writing from my bed or my veranda with a cup of strong, Jamaican coffee, my art supplies, and at least one dog nearby. Just for the record, I don’t use AI in my writing at all…not even to edit. All words come from my heart and soul straight to your inbox, imperfections and all.
